All of us are aware that there is an immense shortage of blood. Patients and their loved ones’ struggle a lot to get blood at the right time. Also, they are confused on where to collect and from whom to collect.

“Blood is collected from healthy voluntary donors, who take time and interest to save others’ lives”

Sterile disposable needles are used for each donor and they will not feel weak after donating blood. These blood collections are made from sources through camps conducted in Government Institutions, Industries, Corporates, Colleges, Residential Areas / Apartments and Religious Institutions. You are requested to connect with these bodies and set up camps accordingly.

Only authorized blood banks can collect, store, make into components and give to people in need. The actual blood donation takes about 4 to 6 minutes. The whole donation process from the time you walk in until you leave usually takes about 30 minutes (includes medical checkup and refreshments). Be assured it’s a minimal painless process

Identify Donor Sources
Colleges, Corporates, Industrial Units, Construction sites, etc. Consider the venue to be in well lit, well ventilated and spacious areas
Fix up tentative dates
Select 2 or 3 dates just in case the blood banks and donor sources may not be free due to some unforeseen circumstances.
Select Blood Bank
Choose the right blood banks which is nearby and can give better services Consider points like – timing, doctors, staff, technical team, transport, etc.
Finalize the Date and Time
Send mails, WhatsApp messages from club email or ask DC blood donation to coordinate Ensure that it’s updated in their calendar
Plan for Publicity
Consider Posters, Banners, WhatsApp messages, use social media like Facebook and Instagram Newspaper inserts can be prepared and sent out well in advance. Send Invitations about the camp

To Donate Blood, a person-
 1. Must be age between 18 to 60 years.
 2. Should not be underweight. Weight should be more than 45-50kg.
 3. Male can donate blood once in 3 months and Females can donate once in 4 months
 4. Should not be suffering from any infectious (such as a cold or flu) or chronic diseases (such as diabetes).
 5. Should not have taken any intoxicating drugs, orally or otherwise, within 48 hours prior to donating blood.
 6. Should not have high blood pressure.
 7. Should not be pregnant or menstruating

After donating blood ensure that the donor –
 1. Knows the importance to take care of his/her health as it takes around 24 hours to replenish the volume of blood lost, which is around 400ml, or one unit.
 2. Drinks a fruit juice or glucose-rich drink and eat a light snack like a banana.
 3. Is advised to drink plenty of fluids but avoid caffeine.
 4. Avoids smoking.
 5. Can go to work immediately after donating blood, but advise avoidance of intense physical exertion
